As an accompaniment of our Danish Quiz, this week's Dancer of the Week is Silja Schandorff of the Royal Danish Ballet, whom you may notice bears a striking resemblance to Ballet Alert's "Hostess" who greets you on every page. Schandorff, 29, is now the RDB's senior ballerina, tall, striking, with a pure classical technique and a lush, ample, gentle way of moving. In addition to the roles shown below, Schandorff has danced Myrthe in Giselle and Odette-Odile in Swan Lake, as well as the Sylphide, Hilda in A Folk Tale, a solo in Napoli, and a host of contemporary works.

Schandorff with Kenneth Greve in Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto.
